When a mother drowns her own child...

A CCTV image showing Fabienne pushing Adelaide in a pram in Berck sur Mer on November 19
It's with a sad heart that I am writing this article. And as much as I would like to talk about my love, admiration and respect for the French police, I feel like a mournning mother. My heart is broken and it's
been overshadowed by sorrow.

A little girl was found dead, strapped in a pushchair submerged in the water, by a fisherman in Berck sur Mer, northern France, and an autopsy suggested she drowned.. Strange thing was no one had reported a missing child. The police diffused photos from CCTV footage of the child with some black woman asking for information about the womand and the baby, anyone who could identify the woman. The baby in the pram with the blck woman was certainly that found drowned. She was wearing same onesie she was found in.

The baby was first identified as being of european race with blue eyes. Many thought the black woman was the nanny. Witnsses talked about seeing the woman with the baby at the beach, and she even asked for the time the beach would come up but they didn't have an idea she had a plan to drown the baby. Some people remembered seeing her at the train station. But it was impossible to trace her. They found the hotel where she stayed in and  found some DNA traces. Some DNA was also found on the pram the child drowned in. They also found out the woman took a train back to Paris, as she was not from the region where she drowned the baby.

The DNA of the child showed that she was of mixed race and the police suspected that the woman is the mother of the child. Did she throw her own baby into the sea? If the child went missing, why didn't she ever report it.

After ten days of searching nationwide, the French police finally found the the baby's mother. Someone had recognised her. The Police traced her to a house in an eastern suburb of Paris where she lives with a 63-year-old man. She was arrested, nine days after a public appeal for her whereabouts, following the discovery of the girl's body on November 20.

At first, she told the Police that she did have a little girl but hers has been taken to Senegal by her mother who had agreed to look after her. Her DNA was taken and test showed that she was the mother of the dead child. After this, she confessed to the Police that she is indeed the mother of the 15-month-old baby named Adelaide. In police interview she said baby was 'incompatible' with her love life.

Fabienne Kabou, 36, a philosophy student, lives with a 63-year-old man in Paris. She had told her boyfriend, a sculptor, the same thing she told the Police that she had handed over the little girl to her grandmother who had agreed to look after her in Senegal. Fabienne took the drastic move after deciding motherhood was 'incompatible' with her love life with Adelaide's father who never accepted the girl.

This wicked woman travelled with her daughter to the town from Paris with the intention of killing her. She checked into a seafront hotel in Berck sur Mer on November 19 before going to the sea. She left the child alive on the beach as the tide was rising. The next day Adelaide was found dead, strapped in pram, in the water. The  CCTV images of her released by the Police was the horrifying moment French mother calmly pushes her baby girl to drown in the sea because she claimed child was 'incompatible' with her love life so she decided to save her relationship by killing her child.

The father of Adelaïde said that Fabienne Kabou had been 'a magnificent' mother to her child. Neighbours of the couple said they were at a loss to understand how the mother of the Adelaïde could have wanted to be rid of her.

On Saturday, Kabou was taken under Police guard to Boulogne sur Mer and questioned for four hours by an examining judge in a closed court session. The judge placed her under investigation for murder. She was remanded in custody pending her trial. Her lawyer Fabienne Roy-Nansion  who was present during the interrogation said that her client had made a full confession. "She realises what she has done. She expresses remorse. She is not trying to find excuses".

The investigation will now determine whether the woman was a victim of domestic or psychological violence from her partner. Some develop narcissistic and immature behavior at the birth of a child. Fabienne faces life imprisonment

Demonstrators took to streets calling for crackdown on child cruelty. The case has sparked outrage as hundreds took to the streets outside the court and on the coast in a White March. Hundreds have taken to the streets in the past couple of days paying homage to the little girl in a White March.

This sad event happened just few months after the mother of a little girl named Fiona confessed to buring her own child along with her boyfriend, after first declaring missing during several months.

I wish she had taken the child to a school, hospital, churc, orphanage, etc. Why did she have to drown her ? She is not crazy and her actions were premeditated. She got rid of the child to save her relationship... What a big shame ! She has now been charged with first-degree murder and I hope she faces life in prison.
