Clarissa Jean-Philippe : photo of the policewoman who was shot dead Thursday morning in Paris

A policewoman and city official were shot at Montrouge in southern Paris on Thursday, a day after the attack at the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo which left 12 people dead and 11 injured.

Clarissa Jean-Philippe, the policewoman died of her injuries. Two men have been arrested over the Paris thursday morning after another manhunt which lasted 8 hours for the killer of the 27-year-old officer

Clarissa Jean-Philippe who was born in Martinique, French overseas territory, had recently graduated. She was said to have been in the job for 15 days only when she was met her untimely death. The young woman was on patrol around 8 am yesterday morning when she was called to a car crash involving two cars. On arriving at the scene she was riddled with bullet in the back. She died almost immediately on the pavement while her colleague was seriously injured.

Clarissa's mother heard about her death over the radio in Martinique while her colleagues called her liytle brother in Paris to inform him.

The suspect was said to be wearing a mask, dark clothes and heavily armed. The French authorities have not said if the incident is linked the terrorist attack that took place wednesday morning.
