France's Favorite Personalities according to Le Journal du Dimanche

French Newspaper JJD (Journal du Dimanche) just released the list of top 50 favorite personalities of the French people. Find the ranking below :

Jean-Jacques Goldman

Jean-Jacques Goldman has been elected favorite personality of the French for the fourth year consécutively.

Jean-Jacques Goldman is a French singer & songwriter. The 63-year-old won Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1990. Accroding to Wikipedia, since 2003, he has been the second-highest-grossing French living pop-rock singer, after Johnny Hallyday.

Omar Sy

Omar Sy was elected the second favorite ersonality of the French. In 2012, the 36-year-old was elected favourite celebrity of the French in a ranking established by JDD.

Omar Sy is a French comedian who came into the French scene with his TV sketch with Fred Testot, called Omar et Fred. He became famous after his role in French film "The Intouchables", which became the second most ever viewed French film of all time in the French box office.

He received the César Award for Best Actor on 24 February 2012 for his role in the comedy-drama film making him the first black actor to win the honorary French award. In 2014, he played the role of mutant Bishop in american superhero film X-Men: Days of Future. He also played in Samba, another French comedy-drama film which made big success. He is part of the cast of the fourth episode of the Jurassic Park saga, Jurassic World which will be released in June 2015.

Jean Dujardin

Jean Dujardin is a French actor, director, producer and comedian. The 42-year-old began his career as a stand-up comedian in Paris. He first gained attention when he appeared on the French talent show Graines de star in 1996 as part of the comedy group Nous C Nous, before starting his acting career in television comedy serie titled "Un gars, une fille", with each episode was less than ten minutes long. He later moved to acting in comedy films such as OSS 117 and its sequel.

He became an international star after his breakthrough success in 2011 for his role in "The Artist". The role won him numerous awards, He became the first French actor in history to win the Academy Award for Best Actor. He was also nominated for the César award of the best actor but lost it to Omar Sy for his role in Intouchables.

In 2013, he appeared in american comedy film "The Wolf of Wall Street" and George Clooney's 2014 historical drama "The Monuments Men".

Simone Annie Liline Jacob is a French lawyer and politician who served as Minister of Health under Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, President of the European Parliament and member of the Constitutional Council of France.

The 87 year-old is survivor from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp where she lost part of her family, she is the Honorary President of the Fondation pour la Mémoire de la Shoah.She was elected to the Académie française in November 2008.

She is famous for pushing forward the laws that made access to contraception easier and legalizing abortion. She was elected President of the European Parliament in 1979 which she served as until 1982. She was the 12th President and the first female President since the Parliament was created in 195.

Sophie Marceau is a French actress, director, screenwriter, and author who gained popularity in 1980 with her debut film La Boum. She became an international film star in 1995 with her role in Braveheart. The 48-year-old also played James Bond girl in 1999 in the film The World Is Not Enough alongside Pierce Brosnan

Jean Reno

Jean Reno whose real name is Juan Moreno y Herrera-Jiménez, is a French actor who has appeared in over 60 films realised in French, English, Japanese, Spanish, or Italian. Some of the successful films of the 66-year-old star includes : Crimson Rivers, Godzilla, The Da Vinci Code, Mission: Impossible, The Pink Panther, Ronin, Les visiteurs, The Big Blue, and Léon.

Reno is a very good friend of Nicolas Sarkozy. When the actor got married for the third time in 2006 in southern France, the former French president who was presidential candidate at that time was his best man.

Dany Boon

Daniel Hamidou is a French actor and film director. His stage name is Dany Boon which he got from a television show called Daniel Boone.

The 48-year-old was born to an Algerian father and a French mother. He  started as a comedian and became famous with his sketches and his one-man shows but his role in the film Joyeux Noël in 2005 put him on the international scene. One of his most successful film is Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis which he directed was released in February 2008. He also played a role in the comedy which went on to break French box-office records. That same year, he became the highest-paid actor in European film history, netting 26 million Euro. He is the president of the 40th César Awards ceremony which  is scheduled to take place on 20 February 2015, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.

Renaud

Renaud Pierre Manuel Séchan, known as Renaud is a popular French singer, songwriter and actor. His most popular songs include "Dès que le vent soufflera", "Laisse béton", "Morgane de toi", "Mistral gagnant" et "Les Bobos". He contributed to the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo between 1992 and 1993, with the column Renaud bille en tête and again between1995 and1996 with the column Envoyé spécial chez moi.

The 62-year-old is said to suffering from alcohol addiction which is why his wife divorced him in 2011. In 2014, a collective of 15 artists released a series of two tribute album containing 14 tracks each of interpretations of his songs under the title La Bande à Renaud. The first was released on the 9th of June and the second on the 27th of October. Renan Luce, a French singer and songwriter, who is also the husband to his daughter Lolita Séchan, is part of the group "La Bande à Renaud".

Mimie Mathy

Mimie Mathy is a 57-year-old French actress, comedian and singer who is best known for her starring role in the long-running television series, "Joséphine, ange gardien" in English "Josephine, Guardian Angel".

Mathy has achondroplasia,  the most common form of dwarfism, and is 4 ft 4 in (1.32 m) tall.

Florence Foresti

Florence Foresti is a 41-year-old French comedienne and actress of italian origin. She started her one-woman Manquerait plus qu'elle soit drôle ("The only thing missing is that she be funny") in 2001 and won the Jury prize at the Antibes festival. She starred in films such as "Si c'était lui..." released in 2007, and "Hollywoo" in 2011.
