French Tramway systems

Bordeaux
In France, modern and convenient tramway networks have been provided to reduce congestion which is a major problem in several French cities.

The tram is also known as a tram car, a street car or a trolley car. It is a rail vehicle which runs on tracks along public urban streets. They are lighter and shorter compared to trains trains. We do not have this type of transportation in Nigeria.

Tramways are highly appreciated as public transport by French people because they are easy to access, they are more reliable than buses as they don't encouter traffic, they do not pollute the air as they are powered by electricity and they are not expensive.

The first French tramway was built in the late 19th century in Paris but after World War II, nearly all of the tramway systems disappeared completely. But then, before the end of the century, the tramways came back. Many French cities started developping their tramway networks using a modern version and design.

Today, Trams are useful means of transport widely appreciated by the French. Bus traffic and town congestion have greatly reduced. The time spent in searching for a car park and the cost of parking one's car in France is enough to make several French people abandon their cars to use the Tram.
