Jacques Chirac & his wife choose different candidates for the French 2017 presidential election

Former French president came out on Thursday in support of his former prime minister and political protégé Alain Juppé, while his wife Bernadette, is a big fan of Nicolas Sarkozy's who was Chirac’s interior minister before becoming president in 2007.

Their daughter Claude, who acts as her father’s official adviser since 1995, strongly opposes Sarkozy return to power.

Claude was rumoured to have had a brief relationship with Sarkozy in 1993 following the untimely death of her first husband but she subsequently denied.

Although they all belong to the same party UMP (Union for a Popular Movement), there is no love lost between them.

In the run-up to the 2012 presidential election which Sarkozy lost to Hollande, it was said that Chirac told reporters that his distaste for Sarkozy was such that he would “rather vote for Hollande", a Socialist. Hahahahahaha, this just so insane !!!

Alain Juppé is not yet on the UMP nomination list. Several French people want him to be UMP's candidate for 2017. I don't know much about politics. In this game called politics, I prefer to follow the adage which says "the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know". So for me, Hollande here is the devil we know, Sarkozy, the devil we knew :) and Alain Juppé, the angel we don't know :)
