Baga : The forgotten ones

Photo credit : Mad World News
The world has forgotten the victims of Baga. Victims of crazy fanatics, victims of a bad governement, victims of poverty, and victims of the world. The Nigerian president and his crew are still busy with February election campaigns, while the world have their attention on the terrorist attacks Paris suffered this week which left 17 people dead.

Austria actor Boris Kodjo remembered today these forgotten ones. Nigerians and African celebrities are yet to create awareness, start a Twitter hashtag and move out on the street to demonsrate. They brought out their "Bringbackourgirls" placards only after the American stars started to and the hashtag started trending and several of them who never tweeted a "Bringbackourgirls" picture posted an "ice bucket challenge" video.

276 girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram in April 2014. The 2000 victims at Baga are mostly women, children and old people who could escape from the violence and decided to hide in their homes. During 4 days, between 6th and 9th of January, Boko Haram razed Baga and 16 villages surround it. Killing, destroying properties and burning up the villages. Those who escaped the attack fled to neighbouring countries; Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
We might never know the exact number of victims nor their names but their blood has soiled our land and has cried out to God. May their souls rest in peace !
