What is verlan? Verlan is an argot in French. it is known as the French vernacular.
Words in verlan are formed by switching the order in which syllables from the original word are pronounced. Today, several words in verlan are used as slangs by young people in France.
For example the word verlan is the inverse of l'envers which mean reverse/backwards in French.
